Giving them code when they are actually "hacking" but have no idea what a struct is? No. that is not in any way the best way to learn. A coder is not someone who picks up a base, edits a few lines and compiles and yet has no idea on what of half of it does.
If he actually knew how to code in the right order, he wouldn't be asking how to code a struct (one of the most basic stuff when you are learning the correct way). Learn C, Learn how to hack. Not the opposite.
