yes but if he knows c++ i was assuming he had at least semi knows what he is doing with asm and what not.

That is an outrageously wild assumption to make

Since you got your C++ down, learn how memory works and how its managed. Try to pick up on some Assembly also.

Download a simple hotkey source from the section and try to work with it. It shouldn't be too hard to understand.
