Headset Issue

I got new Sennheiser PC 323D headsets, but I'm having some issues.
Sounds aren't working correctly. I don't know the reason but for example the sound when you open a folder doesn't play.
I also tried them on PS3 (PS3 is connected to a monitor to which the headset is connected to) and it's completely messed up. I went to output settings and set the channels to:
PCM 2.0CH 44.1 kHz
PCM 2.0CH 48 kHz (these two are on by default)
the others I set myself:
PCM 5.1CH, 7.1CH (44.1 and 48 kHz) and DTS 5.1.

I went to play FIFA, here's what happens:
with only the 2.0s on, I can hear the commentator but when a player kicks the ball, the sound is very quiet, considering the volume of the other sounds;
with any other than 2.0CH there is no sound of players kicking the ball or commentator sound. There are some sounds like the crowd...

I also ran the test for 7.1 on PC and I am hearing the sounds from the correct directions as the test shows.

I dont think so, i think you have to change anything in your Settings, look up on google.

Disable all your settings except for one? 7.1 should be able to play 2.0/2.1 sources just fine without changing settings. Also within game settings there is an audio set up you may want to look through.

The headset came with the 7.1 USB soundcard which I was using to connect the headset to the computer. If I connected my headset directly to the computer, not having the 7.1 USB connected, the sound for opening a folder was as it should be, while it isn't with the soundcard. I did install the drivers for the soundcard from the disc that came with the headset and then from their website.

Hmm if you are having problems with both PS3 and PC It maybe a problem with your headset :/ Do you know anyone else who has that headset?

Not really.

And the sound on the PC is good, apart from that folder opening sound, which is only messed up when the headset is connected to the PC through the USB soundcard.

Really the headset just sounds faulty. e-e Where did you buy them? If you bought them at Radio Shack you could prolly call and ask for technical assistance. But yeah it sounds like your headset is not working properly.

The I would recommend going back to the place you got it and explaining your problem and either seeing if they can help you get it to work or give you a new one.

Ok, so most of you say that the headset is faulty. I'm going to try to return them as soon as possible.
