New PC help

yup, i have $600 thanks to my dad for my birthday(early present) to put towards a new PC, nao i dunno what to get, i was thinking about an i7 processor with 6-8 gigs of ram, and a 1 tb HD, but im open to suggestions, right now im running on an AMD phenom x3 2.14GHz with 4 gigs ddr2 ram and a 9800gt GPU. Im gonna need a new case and all the works(minus a GPU since mine is brand new) oh and i have a copy of vista ultimate 64bit and XP pro 32bit, which one?
