I'm using win8, dunno if it may change something.
Nothing happens when i run the .jar file ..
What i've tried so far:
1) Read this whole thread.
2) Removed all spaces in the directory (and the unrarred folder name).
3) Tried the 2nd download (in the later post).
4) updated from Java7U9 to Java7update15 (latest)
5) deleted old modselector.
7) unrarred to a different directory than the old modselector (still,without spaces).
Out of curiousity, i also tried running the .bat file.
Here is the result of running the .bat file: http://puu.sh/2bCU9ⓘ
Further suggestions or fixes appreciated. I am running Win7 64bit.

Edit the [programs] section of your config.ini (just remove "./" or change it to the location of rabcdasm).

ty for the suggestion, but the same issue remained after making this edit.
However, i did figure it out.
SHORT ANSWER:
Step1: Make sure the directory has no spaces (check the folder name, too).
step2: In the config file, under swfOriginalPath, replace the drive letter "D" with "C" (or whatever drive your modselector folder is located).
step3: Then, while running the program, hit the BROWSE button to manually locate the swf file (before pressing build).
long version:
IF NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN YOU RUN THE .JAR FILE, TRY THIS: (it worked for me)
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEWBS:
Step1: Unrar the rar file to some locationg not containing spaces (like the desktop). make sure the folder name itself ("Modselector11.1") does not contain any spaces.
Step2: Open the config.ini file. Look at the 3rd line that reads "swfOriginalPath = D:\\blahblah.
IF YOUR FOLDER IS NOT LOCATED ON THE D DRIVE, Change the D to a C. Leave everything else alone, even if the rest of the path is wrong.
Step3: Save and close the config file.
Step4: Open the .jar file. Before pressing BUILD, USE THE "BROWSE.." Button at the top to locate your swf file!!! Even if the path looks correct, use it anyway.
Step5: check the mods you want, then press Build. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE "Build" button looks unpressed again.
Step6: When the build button is clickable again, you can close the modselector, rename your newly created "-mod.swf" file to whatever you want, then run it with the flash projector or w/e.
NOTE: I advise not to change the path in the config file (except the drive letter) because... i want you to avoid making the same mistake i made: You cannot simply copy and paste the filepath here. There is a specific format it needs, so just let it fill that part in automatically when you press "Browse.." to locate your file during step5.

i really wish i could figure out how to make this work. i've updated java and downloaded the sdk but whenever i try to execute the .jar it simply does nothing. well, the cursor will change like it's loading like normal but then it just stops and nothing happens.
help please? i'm not new to programming or anything so i wouldn't ask for help unless i was completely stuck like i am. i'm running win7 home basic (iirc) x64.

You don't need to install the SDK you only need the runtime environment. Try running it from commandline and paste here the output.
i used the command "start C:\Users\chaos\Downloads\!ROTMG!\ModSelector11.1\r otmgModSelector_1.01.jar" and nothing happens. it doesn't even throw an error.
edit: not sure why it adds the white space between the 'r' and 'o' in rotmgModSelector_1.01.jar. it only shows up when i finalize my post here.
