Port Forwarding a server!
Port Forwarding
1. Once you setup your minecraft server, you want to know your internal ip address + your default gateway. If you don't know how, I will make a seperate tutorial and paste it here. You will also need to find the port you are using for the server, if it is blank, the port is 25565. If you have set a different port, remember that for later on.
2. Enter your default gateway (normally 192.168.1.1, 10.1.1.1) in your browser, fill in the credentials and find the port forwarding section. Depending on your router, it can vary in different locations. I will try gather the information of different routers and post where they are.
3. You want to set another virtual server or something(router dependency) and set it as so
Port: (The port you put in your conf, this can be 25565 or what you set.)
IP Address: (This is the internal ip address that you found. The IP Address that your server is using (and everything related to the internet) )
Description/Name: (Go ahead and put a name if your router allows you)
Protocol: (If you can set both (like an option with the word both) go ahead and set that. If it can set only TCP, set it as TCP, repeat this step and set it again but on the UDP protocol)
Status: Enabled (obviously)
4. Go ahead and save. If you need to reboot your router for it to take effect, please do so.
5. Go to a site that can show your EXTERNAL IP such as ipchicken, whatsmyip etc.
6. Give your friends/playmates your EXTERNAL IP address. If your port is different to 25565, give them this; (Your IP Address):(Port)
7. Have a jolly fun time building and fighting creepers.!
Admins please sticky for the people who need help port forwarding!
I will work on other tutorials such as finding cmd and keep this post updated!
