How does the reputation shit work here?

I only got 10 reputation but I got more thanks then my posts, shouldn't that make my reputation higher? =\

Reputation goes up when someone clicks the badge on the bottom left of your post and adds to it.
Thanks and posts have nothing to do with it.

Mother fucker, Thanks are based on contribution apparently, Rep is based on being nice to people?

Also some rep won't be added even if the person repped you because they have default rep.

Thanks are based on helping people or providing useful information, rep on the other hand is the thing that gets you recognized for that or known for doing good deeds.

Also, the rep someone gives you is based off their post count.
