So, it came to my attention that people world wide are reporting multiple glitches with the latest update of Optifine... on Linux. More specifically, Ubuntu.
This here, although on MAC, is very similar to this strange glitch on Ubuntu.
Reported:
Giant Flying Squids
Large polygon masses floating/spinning the the sky
All mobs starting missing limbs, one after another. (Try fighting invisible zombies on a MineZ server... -.-t)
Zombies: All body parts can go missing.
Spiders: Eyes are always visible, and most of the time at least 2 legs are visiable.
Skeleton: Bow is always visible; the rest turn invisible.
Sheep: The wool remain, head is the most likely missing part.
Cows: Mostly limbs, but can become completely invisible.
Chickens: Mostly visible, but can become entirely invisible. Hasn't been reported with only one missing part, it's always either the whole thing or nothing at all.
Creepers: Feet always remain; the rest is invisible.
Bats: Bats remain.
Villagers: Can completely turn invisible.
Ghasts: Floating legs, lawl!!
Endermen: I've never seen one become invisible.. yet.
Squid: Limbs missing/Head is glitched (Like Nodus's wallhack)
Players start missing limbs one by one. Talk about giving an arm and a leg... (This also includes your own swinging arm, with nothing in hand. Held items are always visible.
Optifine's "View Settings" button is clicked twice upon clicking, causing the Fog to be switched between On/Off
If you had all of the same problems as me.. o boi. This is why I'm making this short, simple tutorial about the things I've done that resolved these problems.
1. Why so much ram bro?

Once starting the Minecraft Luancher, click "Edit Profile".
Toggle the very last feature, this allows you to change any java coding. Remove what's already in there, and enter this:
Code:
-Xmx512M
This will set Minecraft to automatically use the max amount of memory it would use at any point in time. Allocating over 3GB of Ram doesn't mean Minecraft will use all of that ram.. it's just taking away any free ram your computer could be doing to listen to any online music, or being in a skype call.
I believe the glitch may have to do something with your graphics card. Too much ram being put in minecraft alone, where's the ram to actually LOAD minecraft going? This is one of the bigger fixes I've found across the web.
2. Believe it or not, but..
Many Ubuntu users have reported that running minecraft in Fullscreen actually makes the game run better. Because I don't really understand it, but I don't really go against it, let's just be newbs for a minute and say that because Minecraft is in fullscreen, your computer automatically thinks it's playing a game and makes that game more faster... idgaf, it's just one of the things that helped fix this glitch.
3. Texturepacks.
Alright, so you gotten yourself a 4x4 texturepack.. This helps with lag, the glitch you're seeing isn't lag. It's some sort of loading error. It wouldn't matter if you used a 1x1 texturepack, or a 500x500 something texturepack. This does not effect how mobs/players load. I'm just putting this here now.
4. Advanced OpenGL and other Multi-Core uses
Go ahead and go to your Video Settings, not minding the fact that you just accidentally toggled Fog.. again... and click Advanced OpenGL. If you don't have optifine installed.. what the f*** are you doing here?
If you are able to switch this feature, then you better use it. There are many computers out there that just can't handle this feature, you're lucky. If you can't.. lmfao.
Go ahead and toggle that to either Smooth, or Multi-Core. depending on your computer speed. If you can play a PVP battle feeling save with anything over Small (+40 FPS), then switch it to Multi-Core. This causes your world to be loaded a lot faster, making more use out of your computer. If you're one of the "Tiny Distance Render Players", just switch this to smooth. You'll experience more fps, while keeping the fact that you can't see more then 5 chunks forward. If you keep this on Defualt, I can't guaranteed that the massive render glitch will be fixed. This helps the world be loaded faster, allowing more time for entities to be loaded.
Head to your Performance Settings, I found these settings very helpful with both Lag and this entity glitch.
Smooth FPS: On
Load Far: Off
Chunk UpF: 2
Lazy CL: On
Smooth World: On
Preload Chunks: Off
Dynamic Updates: On (Unless you're playing some archer game...)
5. And finally:
After doing this part, along with everything I said above, I have never -- not once -- seen this graphical glitch again.
Go ahead and download the "System Monitor" from Ubuntu. It has this icon:
After installing that, click click the top left button that says "Search your computer and online sources", it has the Ubuntu logo in and a swirl around it. Search for "System Monitor" (Or, if you already found out how to do this (I'm not telling), press Ctrl+Alt+Delete for the shortcut key to it (This is not a default feature)), and keep that open.
Start the Minecraft Luancher, open a Minecraft game, and keep it out of fullscreen. If it already went to Fullscreen, turn that feature off then restart it.
Once you finally have it open (Using your new non-1x1 texturepack), open the System Monitor and find the "Java" process. Set that to High. Never, ever, set it to anything higher then High. This may cause a crash in your system.
Go ahead and start a new world, or join a minecraft server. If this worked, you'll never see any strange floating arms or invisible zombies!~ If you have anymore problems, feel free to ask. I'll do the best I can to answer. Except for that one guy that types in the very bright blue text, get a life and stop following me everywhere. I've contributed to this site more then you ever will. Not in quantaty, but in quality. Now leave me alone, kid.
Before you guys get your panties stuck in a wad, some of us actually use Linux.
I lol'd too.
Then I noticed I screwed up again, and could've posted this in a more accurate section.. *Facepaw*

Yep, thanks. I didn't really takes this as a tutorial, since you can completely skip some "Steps" and just do it in any random order to help others with the problem.
Ive always launched mc with 1024 ram on ubuntu, well.. I had many gcc apks and tweaks installed, never had a problem.. but yeah.. nice one
nice, im a linux user myself
Liar. No one uses Ubuntu. Everyone uses a SUPERIOR OS, like Arch or Gentoo.
I acc used Ubuntu for quite some time Although kinda shitty, but with tweeks downloaded it was fine for me Also used Fedora - mkay but I just found Canonical supporting the project better than Fedora did theirs..
