I tried your method but had no success.
For anyone who is looking for another way...
1. Open 7 days to die and log in to your world.
2. Open Cheat Engine (v.6.3 tested and working)
3. Click the "Select a process to open" button (looks like computer with a magnifying glass)
4. Select 7 days to die in the processes
(Now inside the game put the item that you want to dupe on your hot-bar/belt)
(You need usually at least 5 of the item for it to work)
So say you want to duplicate water bottles...
5. Put the 5 water bottles in your hot-bar
6. Switch back to CE (alt+tab)
7. Under "Value" type 5
8. Hit the "New Scan" button
Here you will get a list of results for the number 5
9. Go back into 7 days to die (Alt+tab)
10. Drink one of the waters
11. Go back to CE (Alt+tab)
12. Change the value from 5 to 4 and hit "next scan"
*Note- If you hit "new scan" here it will start over and not work
13. Go back into 7 days to die
14. Drink another one of the waters
15. Go back to CE
16. Change the value from 4 to 3 and hit "next scan"
*Most of the time at this point you will only have one result left in CE.
(If you have more than one result under "Address / Value / Previous" than continue the process until you have only one result.
17. When you have only one result left...
Double click on the data under "Address / Value / Previous"
18. Go to the bottom of CE where it says "Value" and double click.
19. Change this number to whatever number of items you want
20. Go back to 7 days to die and drink one of the waters.
You will see at this point that the number of items changes to whatever number you set it as (eg 9999)
The same process can be applied to absolutely any item in the game that stacks. You will just need to instead of using the item (like drinking the water from my example) just drop one at a time with the Q button and apply the same procedure.
