Email too for that matter, I hate it when people have numbers or unnecessary symbols in their names.
Just an example, do not that I don't really give a shit about the user itself "Death´" or anything that ends with "´", "`" or " ' ".
It's just annoying to look at, I somewhat blame OCD.

The reason people add the ` at the end is because someone has taken the name they want and hasn't been online in 3 years so they add the ` so that they can take the username without anyone giving a shit. I know you already know that but for anyone who didn't then there you go

It's because they can't think of an original name themselves.
