I have to find a political speech, monologue, or biographical excerpt about civil rights (preferably short because I have to memorize and declaim the piece). The thing is I was hoping to stay away from choosing something that's about the civil rights movement (black discrimination stuff) because we all have heard about it and it's not really original anymore. More recently, there have been issues about the freedom of speech, privacy, etc. which seems like a much better/more relevant topic to talk about. Tbh, I've done some searches hoping Eminem made a speech about the freedom of speech but couldn't find any.
TL;DR Help me find a political speech, monologue, or biographical excerpt about civil rights but around the topics of freedom of speech, privacy, etc. (more modern day/recent stuff)
You want Civil Rights but you also want Freedom of Speech?

I thought Freedom of Speech counted as a civil right.

Not really.
They have their similarities though they are much more different. You are going to find more modern articles and news stories that deal with Freedom of Speech if you do a search trying to tie the two together. I would pick either one or the other.
For the most part, African Americans were given their first amendment right though our Government were not really listening. You should look up articles that have to do with the freedom riders. I feel that not many people know much about them and it would make a much better topic than a MLK or Malcolm X speech.

The piece itself has to be about civil rights. Was hoping Freedom of Speech counts. I'm really trying to refrain from anything that has to do with the Civil Rights Movement though. I might just use one of the speeches from V for Vendetta if that counts.

Never really read about him or watched the movie. So I wouldn't know.

Bottom line: Would the rights/amendments stated on the Bill of Rights count as civil rights?
Bump. I need it by tomorrow.
How about this it's about freedom of speech (It's pretty fucking long but you can skim through and collect important stuff)
