OnePlus One

So in recent news, a new Chinese phone company has emerged. Their motto is "Never Settle" and they aim to be a flagship killer. Based on their site:

You can see that their specs are unbelievable for a price point that low. They also have a Smash The Past contest in which they urge you to smash your old phone to get a 16 GB version of their phone+ 3 invitations for other people to purchase the phone all for $1.

What are your though in general on this phone? I believe it's pretty great and hopefully I can purchase it.

I think it looks amazing and I'll be getting one when they come out. I signed up for the contest where you can smash your phone and get a free one, hope they choose me.

Smash an old phone for a new unreviewed, untested phone. The scummy, BS nature of the company's contest would be self-evident.

I hope to see some jackasses try and 'smash' their phone, or whatever naive plans they've got on their head.

Also, I've heard that OnePlus company is somewhat shit. Not trying to be bias.

Well, OnePlus may seem as a shitty company to some people. It's fairly new, it started up in December 2013. The phone however is great. The Smash the Past thing is not so great, a poor marketing stunt made by them.

Start up companies like this never make it big and usually you end up losing way more then anything you'd receive.

I plan on getting this phone for my mother fot next month.

Might be just me, but after reading their webpage following things came to mind.
In order to get a new phone from them you would have to:
1. Apply - Fill out the application form and send it in.
2. Stand Out - We'll choose 100 applicants to be our smashers.
3. Smash & Share - Share a video of your smash on YouTube and the OnePlus One will be yours!

So, after having maybe at least x10 people smashing their phones only 100 will get a new one.
So with that said, I would like a new phone, but I ain't smashing shit until I am 100% sure that I will get a new phone.
Fuck that shit, I need my phone.

My phone is so dated I can't even enter because my phone isn't in their list anyway.
Someone send me their phone so I can smash that shit.

I don't want to join.. it is just like 1% chance to get that..

It's just a shitty Chinese company trying to start a hype train on their crappy campaign. They'll create controversy, make some money then they'll bail the market like most other Chinese companies.

I remember reading about this phone... might become more popular than the Nexus.
