Reimaging computer

Hey,
So I'm about to reimage my computer since my current Windows is getting fucked up. I don't know whether to continue using Windows 7 or upgrade to 8. What are your thoughts on 8 (or why I should stay on 7)? I know it runs smoother but I really hate the UI and Metro (even though you can get rid of it).

And yes, I have Ubuntu as well but I need Windows for school.

Get 8 and just install Start is Back. Sit back and enjoy the silky smooth experience with the start button intact.

Windows XP or gtfo.

Just installed 8.1. Seems a bit laggy (typing/minimizing/maximizing and there seems to bit a slight lag on the mouse). Anyway to fix this?

I noticed that too but with pausing/playing youtube videos

Same. I click pause on a video and it takes about a second to recognize and pause it.
