PSA: Realm Relay and Java 8

I'm posting this since I've seen an increasing number of people saying their RR scripts don't work, and at the same time one of the public event notifiers is forcing their users to install Java 8.

Some if not most of the script functions manipulating XML data will NOT work if you run RR with Java 8. Realm Relay was not made to be run by Java version 8, so if you want to keep using your scripts (autoloot for example, or spell aim) you NEED to run your proxy with Java 7.

Or you keep an updated version of Java: JDK 8

And you fix RealmRelay

How ?

Build the old JS Script Engine 'Rhino' and add it in your RealmRelay project

Then replace the script engine in the ScriptManager class by this one :

Using an old SDK or using the a different Script Engine ?

You are then free to update RR to use the new JS ScriptEngine

I don't see why you want to downgrade the JDK when you can fix the app that cause you a problem

You have a home, toilet is broken, will you change your home because of the toilet ?

Anyways there is no good analogy everyone will come with his own Point of View

I prefer to have a fully updated JDK instead of having to use a old one because of a software

People who come here already have JDK 8, downgrading is stupid IMO, give them an updated RR instead
