Since its a bit cheaper then intel I'd like to know how long you have it and troubles it had.

I plan on putting a PC with a AMD 8 core processor in the future. Not now though xD.

The 8350 is the most popular in terms of price/performance ratio. It's best compared to an Intel i5 2500K. If you win the silicon lottery, you can probably OC an 8350 to 4.8-5GHz range with liquid cooling of course. I've had mine for 4~ months; haven't had any issues except overheating but that's my fault for jumping the gun on a shitty AIO Corsair H60, which would probably be sufficient for a Pentium 4. Honestly, if you're building a "future-proof" rig, stay away from AMD right now. We haven't seen anything new from AMD since 2012's Piledriver which was a rehash of Bulldozer: both flops. The AM3+ socket is most likely dead so you're looking at upgrading your mobo, CPU, and possibly RAM (since they have to respond to Intel's DDR4 push) 1-2 years down the road if you want to continue with AMD. Supposedly they've got some new performance-level tech in the works for 2016 but for right now we're stuck with FX. I mean if you're really on a tight budget go FX. You won't be disappointed but you won't be dazzled. It'll hold you over the hump into 2016. That's why I'm done with this rig. X99, here I come.

Anyone else keeping up with Nvidia and the GTX 970? Thinking of returning mine to Newegg for a full refund then go for the 980, or wait and see what AMD has to offer with the 390/390X.

I would return the 970 and upgrade, I was going to buy a 970 myself but after finding out about the top end bottleneck I'm holding out for a 980.

I know most would say the top end bottleneck is negligible at best but running an ultrawide, every little bit helps.

Just got off the phone with Newegg's customer service. Got a full refund in store credit, using that and paying the difference to get a 980. Just gotta send this 970 back.
