It'd be better if you added more depth. Blur the background, when sharpening sharpen only the focal, unless your going for a concept that requires all-round sharpening, but this isn't it.

Also try using some gradient maps, set to different blending modes. A good start for beginner is to use the orange to purple map, set to soft light, with a low opacity.
