Why steam why

Usually I just retry connection and it works, otherwise you should probably reset your router or something similar. Hey even try using Google.

You'd be amazed if you saw my chrome history. About 200+ google searches for just steam :L
When I retry connection, get same message again.
I'll try resetting router later when other people in my house are sleeping/not using internet.

delete everything except steam.exe and steamapps?

it's ur fkn connection. That happens to me when i'm disconnected from the internet

My connection is fine, obviously, if I posted this thread.
Also my cousin is in same house as me, playing gmod on steam right now, multiplayer.

Now when I launch gmod when steam is being good and works, this happens when I try to join a multiplayer match. No servers/game modes show/load. (My cousin is playing multiplayer right beside me, so it's not my internet because we are using same internet. I also googled this problem, tons and tons of other people have/had this problem)

you could have fire-wall blocking connections? idk sorry

My firewall is off, because I also host a private server for a game and it requires firewall to be off.

ohh, hmm. for some reason Xfire can stop you from connecting.
Try opening the steam folder (defaults to C:/program files/steam) and delete ClientRegistry.blob. Don't worry, when you open steam, it will be regenerated, and you might be able to connect again if that is your problem.

The gmod server list bug or the failed connection to steam?

Have you tried reinstalling the game ?
