Last time I played GTA 5 was during 1.24-1.26 patch and since then I haven't been playing at all. But I read that money is now server sided which I don't know. Is it still possible to cheat it, could someone confirm?

Of course it's possible, but since 1.27 you have a new "transaction error" message if you spawn too much money.

there is no exact number, but if you reach 1 million or something like that, in 10 seconds, the message pops up.

if you are worrying about a ban, I suggest you to downgrade to 1.24 again, and spawn the money you want there, and then come back to 1.28.
Everyone says it's safer, but remember that the ban risk is in every version.
