Interesting lecture I was in, the director of production from Riot Games came in to talk to my university. Had to sign a non-disclosure agreement but let's just say eSports are going to be growing a fuck load more in the U.S, and that we may see another new game of a different genre on the horizon from Riot.

Oh, and they regularly take breaks from work to play games like dodgeball and shit just to keep the place fun. Sounds like a fantastic place to work.

I want to like Riot Games but they seem very anti-competitive from a lot of things I've read. As in they're pushing e-sports but only if it's their vision of e-sports. I've heard that they don't want to share tournaments and events with Valve and other competitors. Might be complete bullshit though, I don't pay much attention to LoL.

Interesting you brought that up, a kid asked the director on that very subject and the director said, almost verbatim: "Honestly, we decided to try to make eSports because one day at the studio on guy was like 'eh, fuck it, seems cool'. So we gave it a try. Our eSports division at the moment, however is very underpowered and we are doing all of the work, we have tried to get some other studios in on it but they would only agree if we did all of the heavy lifting, setting up, planning, and providing the all of the equipment involved, and they would just slap their games and name on it and take half the cash. So we said 'eh, fuck it' and we're just going to roll with what we've got"
