Is DayZ dead?

I've just given up on the damn game being released.
In my opinion the only thing that's keeping DayZ alive is the mods for it :/

I was super hyped about the standalone but after so long the hype kinda of died down, But I rather they take their time to make the game better than to release a shitty version.

There has been no beta, that was early alpha release with nearly no features what so ever.

I'm also waiting but i think i myself would atleast been happier with a buggy alpha of it ala minecraft style instead of the wait.

They need to change how the game is played. Offer some sort of incentive for not killing on sight. Possibly make zombies more of a threat or guns and ammo a lot less common.
