May be a bit late, but you can fit a better graphics card and better CPU with that budget lol.

Maybe he had a better monitor to begin with? For me I've been through many more computers than I have monitors. I always felt that someone's computer should be based around their monitor. But yeh you're right most people don't game higher than 1080p.!
