Seeing as how there aren't any tutorials on silver, I thought I'd make a very simple one.
First off open up a DTX, for this we're using the G23. Once you have opened it up, De-saturate the gun by pressing "CTRL + SHIFT + U"
Create a new layer by pressing "CTRL + SHIFT + N" once you have done this select the area you want. For this I've selected the metal parts on the gun. Now once you have done this change the General Blending to 'Overlay' and hover over 'Satin' and check the box. Make the color Purely white with the RGB set to 255. Set the blending option to overlay and on 100%.
Now set Colour Overlay to pure white and have the setting on Soft Light with 30% Opacity. Now this may look weird and strange, but trust me, in the game it looks way better than you think.
Next up is the body.
Now cover up the body and whatever else you want to have the color of the body. Have the General Blending option set to 'Overlay' and hover over the 'Satin' option. Set it to 'Overlay' with a pure black on 50% opacity.
Now go to 'Color Overlay'. Have the RGB set to 200 for each, on Multiply with 100% opacity. Now comes up Patterns. You can use any pattern you want but for this I'm using a 'Crystals' pattern. Set it to 'Soft Light' with 100% opacity.
Now close that window and your end result may look something like this, but it depends on the settings you prefer.
Definitely better than the one from two years ago.
