As fare as non clan players go i think it is a wast of time.
When you join a clan to keep the clans rank up i think you kind of need to farm.
It is the only way.

i have only farmed once. and it was when i was master sergeant 6 i really wanted to become 2nd Lts. and yes it is boring.
