So yesterday I downloaded the ISO and burned the DVD. I have to admit the installation was actually really fast, at least twice as fast as Windows 7. Props microsoft.
So I installed it, and only one of my monitors is working. Even without graphics drivers on Windows 7 and Vista my dual monitors are detected and running and native resolution. (I don't have an APU or anything, dedicated card)
So after installing my USB Wifi driver thing, I can finally validate windows.
I go on nVidia's site to get graphics drivers. (Still curious why the download was an entire 200 megabytes)
Naturally, I got Windows 8 drivers. Installed them, they didn't work. WDF/WDM backwards compatibility my ass.
So then I try some metro Apps. When you close it (drag from top to bottom) it is still active in memory. After trying out some metro apps and going to task manager I had 400 megabytes being eaten up by these supposedly closed apps. I don't have windows 8 so I can't check, but my friend says on Windows 8 they actually fully close. Alt+F4 will completely close it.
Didn't notice any speed difference with Internet Explorer 11 at all.
They added a start button to the desktop, which all it does is bring you back to the metro UI. If you right click you get some more option, most useful being to shut the damn thing off and forget what garbage you just used. Besides that there is no point to it at all. Just press the windows key. And sorry microsoft, but the new windows Logo looks like a 3rd grader designed it.
So I install some more stuff, and have to restart. I restart only to be greeted by Windows Boot manager errors. Woohoo! I keep on restarting, and they kept coming up. System is now unbootable (reminds me of linux after updating the kernel)
Don't bother trying out the preview. It's just a waste of time.
Installed Windows 7 right after.

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.
If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?
Well, I'm guessing it would've run fine on a low spec machine (at least I hope it would.)
Anyway, found this image regarding your start buttom comment:

I'm sticking with my Windows 8.
By adding a start button I expected the start menu to pop up not the metro wtf.
when they will release the new windows with a real start button
I'm gonna wait until windows 9.
It's gone like this, XP good, Vista Sucked, Windows 7 good, windows 8 probably sucks, windows 9 good.
Love window 7.
