Music styles and taste preferences.

I'm just asking because I'm curious if there's any scientific reason to why certain people like specific types of music or rhythms.
I mean, music is highly personal.

I love waltz rhythms (If that's how you call it, I'm not quite sure how to bend that sentence).

I like really upbeat EDM music. Love Progressive House the most, followed by regular old house, electronic, hard dance, etc. Just love music that makes you wanna get up and dance/party.

I like actual lyrics too, and I can't stand awful vocalists. Vocals are important when I listen to music.

Yeah music that makes you want to move, except none of that TURN DOWN FOR WHAT, or ABOUT A WEEK AGO! bullcrap. Hate it.

I feel like a lot of it has to do with the state of mind you're in at that time of your life, not to mention how you perceive life.

If you're a depressed, cynical person with a skewed view on the world you're probably more prone to like darker and heavier music. While people with a more optimistic outlook on life are more prone to listen to upbeat songs.

Not to say that one can't listen to the other, but this is just my guess as to why some people like certain types of music.
