Question about the rules
I want to include a update.exe with everything I post to just check whether file is up to date and if not download updated version.
This exe would obviously be open source.
It would need to connect online to check current version and download updated one if it exists but it's open source so I can't do anything malicious.
With all of this in mind, am I allowed to do something like this and if not tell me why if it technically doesn't break any rules.
@Dave84311
No you are not allowed to do it without explicit permission from @Dave84311. Because you could have malicious software that they would download from the update. Doesn't matter if it's open source, would still need permission.

It's the users choice if they want to update, if they don't want to they can just wait until the updated version is approved in my original post.

Generally you're not allowed to have any internet connectivity on your uploaded tools at all. Whether or not it forces an update or not you could still attach malware to an update. MPGH requires all updates to be upload through here so that the staff can verify files aren't malicious.

Doesn't matter. Only allowed with Dave's permission.
