Serial #'s

Okay About 3 Months ago, Microsoft Sent me a replacement Xbox, I didn't do anything online or anything else like that. Should I have Updated the New Xbox's Serial Number before I shipped it in to get repairs?

Okay look, To begin with
The First time I got the RROD on my Replacement Xbox, I told my dad to bring home a box, He took the extra step and went in and Sent the Repair Request and started the Repair Shit online,Printed the Shipping lable etc. My Xbox Started working again, So I cancelled the Repair. about 4 Hours Later, It happened again. So I started a New repair Stuck it in the Box and then used the Sticker that my Dad Printed out for me to begin with, and then He stuck it on the box, Took it to work, And then Sent it out. It has been almost a week and According to Microsoft, I havent even shipped it yet...
