It all depends on how hardcore you overclock it. You should be careful, and i would definitely read up on how to before you get started, If u overclock it to much, u can get serious damage.

Be a boss, hard mod the crap out of it, oc it and let it fry

Nah, just give it a bit more juice and boost the clocks and you should get a bit of a performance gain.

You don't need enough RAM for OCing...

I have like 6GB of RAM. But my laptop keeps getting overheated. No overclocking for me.
