John. You click "Choose a different program" or "Browse" And then go to C:/Windows and choose notepad.exe

Or you could try going into the file properties and changing the file type there.
Or in the folder its in press Alt, Tools, Folder Options, View, then take off "Hide extentions for files" or something like that. And rename it, and change it back when your done.

read the little box above that window
How about, copy whats in the hosts, make a new file in notepad, paste it in, and then when your saving it, save it as "hosts" and choose "All Files"
