This thread will help you decide wheather to use a hack or not.
Trainers/rankhacks/unlockers.
From MW2: Those are not bannable if you use them properly, use them while you are at the Barracks and not in game. Close the hack before you go in game.
It's unsure whether or not this applies to Mw3. Use caution.
NOTE: Infinity Ward supposedly has a team that will ban you from MW3, (Not VAC) if they catch you cheating. They go through reports and check your gameplay, to see if it matches your rank.
PS - VAC does NOT run in Co-Op or Survival Mode so it's safe to use trainers there, I've checked myself. - master131
Textures/Skins
VAC originally stated that these are not bannable.
They are never going to be. If you mess up installing textures, you'll just get a game error which you can fix by installing correctly.
External hacks
External hacks are detected, unless specified otherwise in the thread.
Editing your config
Editing your configuration file is not bannable.
Internal hacks/Memory Editors
You will most likely get banned for those since they modify .exe and .dll and are public.
Memory editors are detected.
You will not get VAC banned as long as you don't modify .exes and .dlls.
VAC disablers
VAC disablers reduce your chance of getting banned for hacking, however, using public VAC diablers will not protect you. Public VAC disablers will most likely get you banned. Use private ones, note that they are hard to find and are expensive.
Hosting MODS
Hosting MODS (.gsc) is bannable for host only (private matches included, because VAC runs in private matches too) the people who joins him won't get banned.
