headset help

ok so guys i got new comp and normally i just plug my headset in and it starts working. it has two cords one for mic and one for audio thru headset and my mic is working (very quietly) and my audio wont work at all. the sound just comes computer. but the headset is not broke because i plugged it into my ipod and it works. so what do i do?
