Beginner Tips
First off, some of the frequently asked questions.
Q.How do I earn more money?
A. scoring kills slowly fills up your SP recharge bar. Once it is full you can click the recharge button to get 10,000 SP. also, ranking up from Trainee to Private gives you 30,000. ranks after that give nothing or so I've heard.
also when you receive your 2nd rank up, you can join a clan and play in clan battles. you earn SP after every clan battle now. to get into a clan batter, naturally, you have to be in a clan. then play your clan vs another clan on the clan server.
Q.What is this S badge?
A. It gives you double exp at the end of the round.
Q.what is the best gun?
A. It depends on your style of play.
do you like to snipe? if so grab a sniper rifle.
do you like to just spray bullets everywhere? grab a SMG.
do you like burst fire? grab an assault rifle, especially the ak-74. you can also spray with an assault rifle but SMGs seem to work better.
also, shotguns are very effective up close, downright useless at a medium or long range and are semi automatic. it is not a spray weapon, as it only shoots one shot at a time, however the shot does spread. on a previous account I had a shotgun and its a fun weapon when you sneak up on someone.
Q. I can't kill anyone!
A. what are you doing wrong?
Naturally the best places to aim for are the chest and head.
Remember that SMGs are useless unless at short range.
AK-74 is almost useless while moving, unless at very close range, but is very deadly if you fire a 1-3 shot burst while remaining stationary. up close, just spray it, as they will be spraying you. also the recoil makes your gun go up so aim for the chest, when bursting you can get a headshot from recoil.
the other assault rifles are kinda well rounded, not too great at any one thing.
Sniper rifles are best at long range, though some people can use them at point blank range.
If your reflexes are slow, or you have really bad control over the mouse/keyboard, you won't do too well. of course as you continue to play your reflexes and mouse/keyboard control should improve, but some people simply cannot become good or even decent at these kinds of games.
Q. how do i get a rank up?
A. kill and score many points. your first promotion is at 3,500.
Q. There are bullet holes in my rank!
A. This means that your disconnect rate is high (over 15% i think) just play games without wimping out (disconnecting) and this will go away after enough games.
Q. what do the stats on the gun mean?
A. Damage is how much damage it causes when a bullet hits. Higher accuracy makes the crosshairs smaller, which means the cone of fire is smaller, making it more accurate. recoil is how much the gun moves while firing, high recoil guns are a pain to control, also makes the gun less accurate when spraying. higher weight slows you down. the higher the rate of fire is, the faster it spews bullets.
Q. how do i delete my character?
A. you can't. make a new account.(they should look into letting us reset our accounts)
Q. I want armor. How do I get it?
A. Well, you go back to the character shop screen, select the army that your character represents, then look below at the tabs right below the army selection, those tabs allow you to purchase the available items for your character. Note that the helmet, kneepads, and body armor are only effective at 30 yards or more. up close they do nothing and only protect the body part that they are equipped on. the helmet and body armor do nothing if you get shot in the leg. are they worth it? they've saved me a couple of times, but unless you find yourself in medium to long range firefights a lot, i wouldn't bother. Now, some items, like the ammo pouch, gives you 1%-2% SP each kill. I BELIEVE this is for the Sbadge, but I'm not sure. it could be for giving you extra sp after clan battles. for the SAS, the Boonie Hat gives you +0.5 to speed. very nice item for P90 sprayers, or anyone who needs a boost in run speed. Also note, that you can only give a character items for the army that character respresents. So a Delta Force, cannot use the boonie hat. only an SAS can.
Q. why would you make a guide like this for?
A. to answer questions for new players and give them gameplay tips.
ok thats about it for the easy to answer questions. moving on.
Things to do.
Sniper: find a good spot overlooking an area that enemies frequent. aim for chest or head and shoot. aim at the chest, its a 1 hit kill almost every time.
Sprayer: get up close and give 'em hell.
Bursters: control your gun. shoot small controlled bursts to keep your accuracy high at longer ranges.
Purchase 1 gun in the beginning, along with your grenades, if you get a sniper rifle, be sure to get a sidearm to go with it, unless you have some kind of insane point blank sniping ability like some people seem to have. After your get a rank up and get ytour 30,000 you can probably safely select another gun to compliment the one you have. but be sure to get a gun that uses a different style. It is pointless to get the PSG1 AND the Fr-Fr2 (or whatever they call it) as they are both sniper rifles. to be able to adapt to the situation is vital.
If you are having a problem with your magazine running out a bad times, you might want to consider a sidearm. I prefer the colt 45, its a well rounded pistol and has saved my skin many times. occasionally in team battles when I find my side is outnumbering the enemy I pull out my pistol to help even things out. I personally prefer a challenge to a massacre.
if you see an enemy sniper, keep moving! Do not run directly at or away from a sniper or they will get you every time. strafe and jump, this will help keep them from getting a good hit on you, though it doesn't work too well at a distance.
GRENADES!!!! grenades are your friend, unless its an enemy grenade. a well placed flashbang can blind your opponent and make them easy targets. a poorly placed one can blind YOU and make you an easy target. a smoke grenade can mask your movement from a sniper, or anyone. some sprayers will fire into the cloud, but very very few snipers will take a shot in the dark. sometimes in team battles I like to lob a smoke near where someone is camping. Then, while they're expecting me to pop out, i toss in a few frags, sometimes it actually works. a tip on flashbangs. if you can see the grenade, it WILL blind you when it goes off. if you turn away it will deafen and partially blind. if you cannot see it it will have no effect, so you can get away from one as simply as ducking behind a box.
In team battles, watch out where you lob a frag or flash grenade. a careless toss could get someone on your own team killed, and killing people on your team is reflected on your record.
flushing out camping opponents. Sometimes it's as simple as tossing a frag grenade by where they are hiding to force them out into the open. dropping a smoke grenade next to them also works, and gives you the chance to move in and shoot them. sometimes they will shoot you first though. smoke + frag works occasionally.
Sneaking Press SHIFT to walk quietly, you can often ambush people by taking your time and walking up to a corner instead of running, they can hear the footsteps if you run.
Press CTRL to duck. you can also walk quietly this way too.
Be as cheap as you want, just don't expect much respect for using a cheap strategy.
Press F4 to talk to teammates. Don't spill your team's strategy, or you could wind up with a lot less kills.
reload every chance you get. a gun with an empty magazine is worthless.the enemy will gun you down while you're reloading.
Communicate! without communicating you have a disorganized horde attacking what could be a well trained army.
Things NOT to do
Do not stand still in front of an enemy sniper. he will kill you in 1 shot.
do not stand near a frag grenade on the ground. it will blow you away.
in team battle you are NOT rambo! do not run out on your own thinking you can take on multiple enemies by yourself. you will not win. Instead have at least 1 ally with you at all times. If you do believe that you are indeed Rambo, play single battle, you will get much more enjoyment out of the game this way.
do not disconnect from a game, no matter how bleak, unless your opponents are insisting on cheating. this will damage your weapons and add to your disconnect rate. many people will kick those with a very high disconnect rate. also you DO NOT SCORE any points if you disconnect. its simply a bad thing to do. the occasional disconnect is ok, but don't make it a habit. only time I've ever disconnected is when I wound up in a 6 man single battle match and about 10 minutes in it was down to me and 1 sniper, after he started glitching, I left.
don't spray at a medium/long distance. It doesn't work well at all.
Don't whine. if someone is beating you down, don't go screaming "hacker!" this makes you look dumb. if the person is standing halfway inside of a wall or crate, then yeah, he is cheating. or if he is getting 100% headshots, then probably. with an SMG definately.
DON'T USE CAPS!!! THIS IS A VERY ANNOYING WAY TO COMMUNICATE, IS HARD ON THE EYES, AND IS CONSIDERED THE TEXTUAL VERSION OF SCREAMING LIKE A MORON. just don't do it.
TRY to use proper english. saying things like 'wat' instead of 'what' irritates many people.
Don't act stupid. I know it can be hard to do, but screaming "you sux" and "owned" often can get on people's nerves very badly.
Don't be arrogant. just because you managed to get in a few kills doesn't mean you need to gloat on it. if you think you gotta say "owned" or "pwned" every time you kill someone, then just say it to yourself, laugh like an idiot, and keep playing. people will not like if you if you taunt and harass them in game.
if someone is taunting you, don't reply. People get a kick out of knowing they are making others mad.
Don't be afraid of people with high rank. rank means nothing. this is a game of skill/technique/strategy, not level. this is not World of Warcraft where a high level can walk all over you no matter how good you are.
In team battle, don't just keep doing the same thing over and over, your opponent WILL catch on and adapt, putting you in a bad spot. if you keep hiding behind the same corner or crate, they will simply walk up, whip around the corner and kill you.Instead, do things they do not expect you to do. sometimes in team battle you can net a few easy kills by watching over the target objective quietly, then nailing people as they try to take it/plant a bomb/etc.
I suppose thats it for the beginners tips. I hope this helps. If this does help, could it be stickied? I will update this as people post corrections and if they offer more/better tips to add to it.
Things to consider
holding your knife (which is basically weightless) gives you the best speed
if you wanna just run up on someone and let loose with full auto, then grab a SMG, they are lightweight and allow you to run quickly, and can ruin an opponent's day up close. speed is everything when you just wanna run and spew hot death.
Which gun to use?
As I said before, it depends on your style of play.
if you like to spray, I suggest the P90. its got huge rate of fire, low recoil, and moderate damage. the M series guns run out of ammo too fast to be effective, the AK has terrible recoil, and inaccurate while moving, and the MG 36 has a slow firing rate.
If you like to snipe, I suggest starting with the PSG1, since it is semi auto.
if you like to single shot, I recommend either the AK or the MG36 the AK has very good accuracy if you stand still and crouch to fire single shots. the MG36 maintains decent accuracy while moving, though it's not as accurate while standing still. the Mg36 also has a far bigger magazine. however, the MG36 is heavy, when means you move slower than an AK.
if you like to burst, then I suggest the M series guns, because their recoil and burst accuracy is better than the AK and MG36.
