Procrastination

Procrastination is extremely difficult to overcome. I used to procrastinate regularly, the reason behind this was because I simply didn't care, in the Canadian school system, your grade 9-11 marks are pretty much irrelevant. Your application to universities rides completely off your grade 12 mark. Up until grade 12, I procrastinated regularly. I'm now in grade 12, and I've completely stopped procrastination because each and every mark counts and decides my future. Try to look for purpose in starting and finishing assignments early.

If you really have no motivation set goals for yourself. Set a time everyday where you dedicate a certain amount of time such as an hour to school work. Turn off your computer and phone.

If that doesn't work, get someone else to enforce a study session. Ask a sibling if you don't want to ask your parents to help you out. Ask them to force you to study everyday at a certain time.

You can also try to do homework with your friends. If your friends don't do homework, you're friends with the wrong people. Everybody slacks, but you gotta do work when you have to.
Don't feel bad, I have a handmade spear and 2 french posters I have to hand in tomorrow, and I still havent started
So lesson is @Scotia

No one here on MPGH does the homework so your in the same boat as everyone else.

I have a speech due tommorow. I will get started on that when I post this comment, I also have physics homework

P.S: dabestjohn said you asked for help for for shit so here are somethings you can do.

>Drink coffee.
>Listen to Instrumental Classics (helps me)
>Sleep around 4 am, and wake at 7 am (Power nap always works for me)
>think about what will happen if you do actually fail (If you care about your grade this should help)

Lol I might not even have school tommorow, it's started snowing and people in school were sure that we would skip monday cause of all the snow. Lets hope they are right so i can get this shit done
I started writing the title for my essay at 12PM. It is now 1:33AM and so far I have listened to music in which I don't like and tried to get myself banned on BF4. Things are going well.
If you aren't motivated to do your work, reach out for something that motivates you.
A possible partner (boyfriend/girlfriend) could be the one.
Say to yourself that if you do not do it, there may be future consequences, just like the way you are saying to yourself right now.
It could also be that you are stressed, so you find something to make you feel better.
That being said, it makes you even more stressed, if you find something to cool it down.
Take a hot shower and say to yourself "I need to do my work".
If you get tired, work out so there's blood flowing to your brain.

Make a timetable or schedule for the amount of time you are NEEDED to spend on your work.
Make yourself sign a self-created contract in case you slack off. Of course, if you do not fulfill the contract, you face the consequence.
Just remember, if you do not start, when will you start? If you keep pushing it back like right now, as you stated, you will never reach your destination.
imo . i would close my laptop and try so hard to force myself to do college works and stuff .
Same with me.

I have about an hour everyday where I switch everything off. My phone, computer, TV and everything. Then I just get to work.

Sometimes, I have so much on my mind I just can't focus and keep finding ways to distract myself. In these situations, write down a list of everything you're thinking about or want to do. Leave that next to you while working. This way, you can look at it every so often and know that when you've done your work, you can do any of those things you want. If you think of something else, write it down and then you can forget about it and focus completely on your work.

Works for me but everyone has different ways of being motivated and focusing.
Same here. This is my final year on High school, so I need to do final exams in may/june. I really fear those exams because of my procrastination. I'm afraid I won't do anything until the very end. And yeah, those exams decide pretty much my whole life.

I'm absolutely horrible when it comes to doing school related things. It'll take me less than a minute to say "Ah well, the homework can wait, I need to check what's happening on MPGH" once I come in from school and quite frankly it's going to destroy my school year. I have 4 weeks until my first major exam this year and I haven't studied at all, I always say to myself "I'll start tomorrow" yet I never do. Someone here in General must have experienced this kind of thing before.

Anyone have any tips to stay motivated when it comes to completing my school work, I know how much it matter and why I should do it, I just simply don't have the willpower.
im going with what you are going through this exact time. i home school so i have to hand in like 5-6 assignments each month. i took xmas off and have 3 late assignments and as soon as ive handed them in, other ones need to be done.. y advice is, don'tstudy in your room or house. go to a cafe or somewhere and take books or your laptop. try not use wifi as i got distracted. I study outside by the pool. mainly because its perma over 20c here. I get fucked when i am in my room trying to study. The hard part is saying when you will. Instead of going on your room to go on your computer, say that you will get school out of the way first and then just force youself to do it, not in your room ofcourse.
Same here man, and the problem is that my brain keeps going:"Ah man, grades dont matter, you'll start your own company or something anyways"...
