.LTB to .smd Tutorial + Tools (2020)

I've made a tutorial on how to convert .ltb files to .smd files. There's an imgur gallery, a video guide, and a quick text guide. You need 7-Zip and Blender (or any modeling program that supports .smd files).

Text Tutorial:
locate rez2 folder
open with rez explorer
extract certain folder/file you want
rename the extension .ltb to .lzma
open 7zip and extract .lzma
rename file back to .ltb
run as admin LTB to smd.exe
locate ltb (1st button)
ltb to lta (2nd)
lta/ltb to smd (3rd)
open blender
import from smd
make naughty stuff

MODERATOR NOTICE Approved! Looks clean, all red flags on the virus scans are false positives not only krnln.dll but all other dll's. Clean tho.
Thanks for the release and contributing, if you want to post a YouTube video on your thread please remove external download links from it as that is not allowed, you can always link this thread on MPGH in the description.

Thread moved to CF main page (temporarily) as it can get more interest.

Defnitely fine. Looks like you have notifications disabled? I sent you a PM and a couple of VM's.. asked you to read stickies in the section & the YouTube video is defnitely fine as long as no external download links are in there, you can always link MPGH

Oh I didn't notice it was off. I would've fixed it had I known. Sorry about that

Watched the whole thing. Very useful & informative video, should defnitelty work.
Thoughts on what this can be used for? Game hacking wise.

I have no idea lmao. I'm just using it for modeling and posing, I don't have or know a .smd back to .ltb tool.

I used to use SMD format when converting Source Engine models to Lithtech. There's still a tutorial in the CA Rez Tutorial section on how I did it. This is definitely an easier method as I used CanonFodder's SMD exporter for source engine stuff, but then opened in 3DS Max, exported as LTA and then used whatever Lithtech tool to make the LTB or DAT file.

The only thing I don't like the use of is the use of Blender. It ruins models in my experience.

And side note, the links you mentioned, is that youtube video description based or IN the video? I've had threads removed because my description had links to my personal sites for items I was also sharing here, hence why I don't really release much here anymore... if ever. Controlling what I put in my description of my video... that's stupid.

Easiest way I know of to go from SMD to LTB is the following

1.) Find 3DS Max 7.0 and install it
2.) Get the SMD Plugins for 3DS Max 7.0 from google, they're easy to find
3.) Import the SMD models, mess with em, do what you have to do
4.) Export as LTA using the Lithtech provided plugins from the Lithtech Jupiter Ent source
5.) Open the LTA in ModelEdit (if its like a weapon or character or item), or in DEdit (if its a map), then do your lithtechy things

How would you turn the LTA to an LTB? You would also need a bypass too, unless you're running your own server. There's kinda no point in turning it back into an LTB/LTA unless you want to mod it.

You turn the LTA into an LTB with the proper Lithtech Jupiter tools like ModelEdit (if its a weapon, player model or prop) or DEdit if its a map (this will make a DAT file, which is a world map compiled file). When you use the Export to LTB in ModelEdit

From the sound of it there's either miscommunication here, or you really have never modded these files before. A LTB file is just the compiled completed file that you would inject back into the Rez file on ANY Lithtech Jupiter game. Whether its NOLF2, Contract Jack, Combat Arms, Sudden Attack or Crossfire. In the end, they all use LTB files for the 3d compiled shipped files in the Rez files, DTX for the textures and DAT for the World Map Compiled files.

Oh I must of read something that LTB is CF exclusive, and LTA for assets and LTC for maps and are LithTech universal. The reason I thought that is because the other tools I've used from NOLF2 and Contract didn't work for CF so I thought they were incompatible. My mistake, I'm new to this and no, I don't mod. Obviously. All I've done is contact the guy who made this and asked his permission and give credit to release this and other tools to help expedite the process for CF modeling.
It's good but it needs some work before it's perfect
The tools and tutorial is good at first but you then realise that the tools actually do not calculate the wrist bones and ulna bones. I tried porting in a CA weapon model to Gmod which works but without the scaling and the wrist and ulna bones that source needs, it creates a very small weapon that messes with your viewmodels hands.

YouTube video had external links. As mentioned before we don't allow this for members security and many other reasons, but members safety comes first at MPGH.
Would love to see some of your releases, within MPGH rules.
