I won't agree with you, but the benifits is overwhelming the disadvantages. (since there is no disadvantages from my own perspective)

Unfortunately there really is no upside to not eating certain items due to law, it should be by personal choice.

Respect for animals? Since when is eating animals in another way disrespectful?

If anything, I respect animals more because I want their death to be efficient and provide more for the cycle of life.
