Agreed. It's because they are hand crafted and tuned, they're extremely difficult to make perfectly. I actually had the ability to watch as one was being tuned when I was in drum corp. Apparently the guy who was making it had been spending three days just tuning it, each time he had to dune it he heated up a mallet and tapped an area, then used a rubber mallet to give it a small tap to slightly alter the dent. So slight I couldn't even see the difference, but could hear it plain as day. They're more ridiculous to make than steel drums.
