Vampires have heightened speed and strength. Zombies have unending endurance, but are otherwise not improved by their virus.
The Zombie Virus will infect other humans through their spit and blood. With vampires it's just the blood.
The Vampire Virus can only survive through blood, so if a vampire drains a victim of their blood, that victim will die and therefore the virus will not survive in that person.
A zombie victim only needs his head to survive and become infected. The Zombie Virus works independently of the heart and animates the victim even past their own death.
The Vampire Virus does not seek to duplicate itself in another victim, just to constantly bring fresh blood into its system. The Zombie Virus does not try to make the host get nourishment, it just wants to reproduce itself in new hosts.
Vampires retain their intelligence and memories, so they can fight their urge. Zombies have lost their minds to the virus and have no control over what they do.
